Men Play the War Game, Everyone Pays the Bill

War narratives are the peak of meta-violence: men decide to fight, the world absorbs the cost.

This is a textbook operation of a masculine-centric narrative. On the surface, the news is about profit warnings from UK-listed firms, surging fuel costs, and rising mortgage rates. But zoom out, and you'll see the source: a few men in war rooms deciding who to attack. This is how meta-violence works—decisions made by those monopolizing power trigger direct violence, which then cascades into structural violence, harvesting the quality of life of every ordinary citizen through energy bills and interest rates.

It is almost comical that the "firefighters" in this story—from Chancellor John Healey to Andy Burnham—are part of the same complicity. They discuss adjusting business rates or providing "breathing space" to soften the blow. It is like an arsonist handing out small fans after the fire has spread, claiming he is "mitigating the impact." This emergency support is merely the PR version of structural violence, masking the fact that as long as decision-making remains locked in those testosterone-fueled rooms, these "unpredictable costs" are an inevitability.

Most ironically, how does this economic squeeze actually land? In the existential war, economic downturns always translate into the Motherhood Penalty and internalized domestic labor. When household budgets are swallowed by mortgages, who is first asked to sacrifice their career to save costs? Who absorbs more unpaid care work to offset the cost of living?

This war is not some "geopolitical necessity"; it is a massive scam. While men chase "strategic depth" and "power maps," they use the global economy as their gambling chips. We shouldn't be discussing how a budget can "soften the impact." We should be asking: why is the power to decide the survival of millions still monopolized by men who prove their existence through destruction?
