The Narrative of Peace and the Pricing of Flesh
Trump's performance on Truth Social is a textbook case of weaponized expression. He has stripped 'Peace' of its humanitarian essence and redefined it as a bargaining chip in a commercial transaction. In this narrative, Zelenskyy is cast as a greedy obstructionist, while Trump plays the savior bringing order to chaos. This is not just political maneuvering; it is a war over the power to define 'fact'.
The most repulsive complicity is found in energy trade. To lower fuel prices for American consumers ahead of midterm elections, Trump waives sanctions and signs deals for Russian diesel. In the calculus of the White House, the lives hemorrhaging on the Ukrainian front are precisely priced as a few cents per gallon at an American gas station. This is structural violence in its purest form: converting the direct violence of war into domestic economic dividends, while the victims are objectified into mere background noise for the deal.
Meanwhile, Russia's attacks on Starlink infrastructure in Lithuania, Poland, and Bulgaria reveal the war's core: a struggle for control over cognitive entries and communication links. While Trump talks about 'bargaining tables' on social media, Russia is physically blinding and deafening Ukraine. This asymmetry is brutal—one side gains political capital by manipulating cultural narratives, while the other employs raw direct violence to strangle the opponent.
This so-called 'peace negotiation' is a closed loop of complicity within a masculine-centric narrative. A few men controlling nuclear arsenals and energy pipelines decide the fate of millions, using the language of 'negotiations,' 'agreements,' and 'commercial terms.' Under the logic of meta-violence, as long as their own bodies are not at risk, all slaughter can be packaged as a 'necessary price for a greater peace.'
