Anger as Compassion? Stop Using Philosophical Massage to Mask Structural Violence

Defining anger as 'compassion' is a classic move of using cultural narratives to dissolve structural struggles.

当你感到愤怒时,是因为你意识到 Actual(现状)远低于 Potential(本可达到的状态)。

This piece attempts to whitewash anger, transforming it from a destructive emotion into a profound form of 'compassion.' From Aristotle to Buddhism and modern poets, the logic follows a typical pattern of philosophical massage: it seeks to redefine the cognitive entry point, turning a biological reaction to injustice into a manageable, internalized moral aesthetic.

However, within the Violence Triangle, anger is never an aesthetic issue; it is the direct somatic experience of the gap: Violence = Potential − Actual. When you feel anger, it is because you realize the Actual is far below the Potential. Anger is the body's honest alarm system, the final line of defense for subjectivity facing structural violence.

The most dangerous logic appears at the end: the author suggests we 'pause' during anger to ask if it is rooted in care for the other. This is a perfect template for self-discipline. When a structurally disadvantaged person feels anger toward oppression, being guided to reflect on 'care' transforms anger from an 'offensive weapon' into a 'reflective shackle.' It turns an existential war into a lesson in personal refinement.

Defining anger as 'compassion' is essentially an act of meta violence. It strips anger of its legitimacy as a tool of resistance and integrates it into a masculine-centric narrative of 'civility.' True compassion is not pausing to reflect during a fit of rage, but using that anger to precisely identify the complicity and the beneficiaries, and then leveraging that energy to close the gap of violence.
