This ritual is an extension of the masculine-centric narrative: proving a transcendental power through the extreme control and self-destruction of the flesh. In this logic, the body is no longer a subject, but an object to be pierced and marked. The so-called 'purification' is a cognitive entry point, tricking participants into believing that only through irrational suffering can one attain privilege or redemption.
The irony peaks when this religious self-mutilation is packaged as 'tradition' and 'cultural spectacle' for Western media. The visual presentation completes the complicity, transforming bloody piercings into exotic aesthetics. In this weaponized narrative, actual violence is diluted into 'faith,' and the optimal expression chosen by the participants in this existential game is to become a physical sacrifice for a divine will.
