Gulf Monarchs' Fear and the Sacrificed Bodies of Yemen

The 'self-defense' narrative is the ultimate weaponized expression, masking the complicity of meta-violence.

The 'ice-breaking' between the UAE and Saudi Arabia over Yemen is essentially an emergency complicity based on shared fear. When Houthi missiles began threatening Riyadh's airports and energy infrastructure, these Gulf monarchs realized that the 'proxy war' game they played in Yemen had real costs—though they only care about who controls the narrative, not who pays the price.

This news is saturated with weaponized narratives. Saudi Arabia claims 'self-defense,' and the UN Security Council even endorses this 'right.' But according to the Violence Triangle, this 'self-defense' is a cultural layer disguise, designed to make structural and direct violence appear legitimate and natural. Their 'self-defense' is actually the protection of their own power seats, while the actual cost—the 200,000 displaced civilians—is dismissed as inevitable 'background noise.'

It is profoundly cynical to watch the UK oscillate between legal risks and military aid. The 2019 court ruling on unlawful arms exports is now just a technical hurdle to be bypassed. This proves that in international politics, humanitarian law is merely a cognitive entry point that can be adjusted. As long as the narrative is framed as 'counter-terrorism' or 'maintaining order,' any scale of slaughter can be justified through the complicity of powerful states.

Yemen has become a chessboard for the existential war of male rulers. Whether through the UAE-funded 'Giant Brigades' or Saudi air strikes, they are fighting for the right to define this land. The Yemeni people are completely objectified as consumable resources. There are no winners here, only a cycle of killing driven by meta-violence.
