The Champions Cup's 'Certainty': A Conspiracy of Resource Monopoly

When the result is predetermined before kickoff, sport becomes a PR performance for power monopoly.

如果 Actual(实际结果)永远无法接近 Potential(潜在的多种可能性),那么这场比赛唯一的价值,就是向世界证明垄断是如何高效地运作的。

The current state of the Champions Cup is not a sporting competition, but a showcase of resource monopoly. When bookmakers assign the title odds almost exclusively to Toulouse and Bordeaux, the Potential of the tournament is structurally strangled. Violence = Potential − Actual; this gap is structural violence: top clubs use absolute monopoly of capital and resources to turn athletics into a scripted performance.

This is a classic case of complicity. Organizers shift the schedule for 'visibility' and 'weather,' using a performative adjustment to mask a structural collapse. They crave more tries and 'basketball-like' passing, attempting to use 'spectacle' at the Cultural layer to hide 'injustice.' When underdog teams like Gloucester consider rotating their squad for the opening night, it proves they have internalized this structural violence—they accept their identity as 'extras' because the cost of resistance is too high, and the optimal expression under patriarchy-like structures is surrender.

Most ironic is the proposal to reduce the tournament to 16 teams to curb 'routine outcomes.' This is not a solution, but a further consolidation of power. By pruning the bottom, the few giants share more power in a smaller circle—a PR scam to legitimize monopoly. When the rule-makers are complicit with the beneficiaries, 'creating jeopardy' is merely a lie.

True sport should be Just Expressions—a collision of different subjects under equal resource gaming. But the Champions Cup is simply using a narrative of 'top-tier competition' to hide one fact: the pricing power of the game is entirely held by the Top 14 giants. If the Actual never approaches the Potential, the only value of this tournament is to demonstrate how efficiently monopoly operates.
