The 'Violent Instinct' of ICE and Institutional Complicity
An intoxicated ICE official assaults a 72-year-old man and his daughter at 3 AM, only to be shot by the victim. To a naive observer, this is a freak accident; in my framework, it is the inevitable manifestation of structural violence collapsing into direct violence.
Under the mass deportation agenda of Trump's second term, ICE has effectively turned 'violent tendencies' into a hidden optimal expression for recruitment. When an organization prioritizes the rapid execution of force over legal due process, it doesn't seek civil servants—it seeks 'hounds' who lack empathy for the marginalized. The reported skirting of vetting processes is a form of institutional complicity: the system is actively filtering for individuals with aggressive predispositions, as they best fit the agency's meta-violence narrative.
This violence is legitimized within the system as 'maintaining order,' but outside the system, it regresses into primal masculine aggression. From the killing of a Colombian immigrant in Maine to domestic violence in Cincinnati, and now this lawn assault, the logic is identical: these individuals have internalized a pricing power that allows them to treat others as objects. Even without the uniform, this subconscious arrogance continues to drive their biological instincts.
Fortunately, in this instance, the 72-year-old father and his daughter used physical means to forcibly close the gap in the Violence Triangle. The most ironic detail is that the one who finally handcuffed the abuser was an off-duty police officer. It proves that even within the enforcement hierarchy, once a 'hound' loses the temporary immunity granted by the state, he is nothing more than a criminal booked for battery.
