Fraternities: The Laboratories of Patriarchal Meta-Violence
The gang rape case at Cornell University once again strips away the facade of campus life. Public outrage typically freezes at the individual judgment of seven male students, which is precisely where meta-violence succeeds as a shield: it tricks you into believing this is a deviation by a few "bad apples," while ignoring that it is a meticulously designed structural hunt.
The so-called "Red Zone" and the Fraternity system are essentially laboratories of the patriarchy on modern campuses. Alcohol here is not a catalyst, but a weaponized tool used to forcibly dismantle the biological wall of women, objectifying them physically and consciously. In this environment, rape is no longer a crime, but a status-enhancing ritual—within the masculine hierarchy, dominance, violation, and degradation of women are used to establish one's rank among peers. This is a grotesque form of complicity: the perpetrators gain identity validation, while the bystanders maintain the stability of this hierarchy through silence.
Even more sickening is the mirrored projection of this narrative at the top of the power structure. From the Trump administration's castration of Title IX rules to providing political platforms for Andrew Tate or Russell Brand, it is evident that the explanatory power of the masculine-centric narrative has formed a closed loop. When the ruling class itself consists of beneficiaries and co-conspirators of this "rape-prone society," legal remedy becomes a performative concession. They do not need law to define justice; they only need to control the cognitive entry points to define survivors' voices as "disturbances" and perpetrators' privileges as "freedom."
Human rights are women's rights. At this moment, the true optimal expression of feminism is not to beg for legal mercy, but to completely dismantle the cultural violence that equates "dominance" with "masculinity." As long as men continue to confirm their existence by plundering the subjectivity of women, any campus ban is merely repainting the walls of the laboratory.
