These narratives, labeling men as 'heroes,' 'rivals,' or 'prodigies,' define the 'core' of sports as a masculine competition for power and glory.
It is telling how women are 'positioned' here. They are either relegated to 'special' categories—such as blind football and rugby—or branded as 'miracles,' like the 11-year-old Woman Grandmaster. This expression is insidious: by 'specializing' or 'infantilizing' female achievement, it strips them of their subjectivity. Female excellence is treated as an 'exception' or a 'curiosity,' while male excellence is the 'norm' of sports itself.
The most cynical complicity appears in Question 5: a WSL club sacking its manager four games in. While coaching turnovers are a routine power play in men's football, this extreme lack of patience in the women's game reveals a structural violence—female professionals exist in a precarious periphery of resource distribution and evaluation. They are allowed into the public space, but demanded to produce the 'optimal expression' instantly, or face immediate erasure.
This quiz isn't testing knowledge; it's using a cognitive entry to reinforce a subconscious bias: the world of sports is defined by men, and women are merely occasional footnotes.
