The 'Hunk Shortage' Scam: A Farce of Objectification and Pricing Power

Men refuse objectification because they are conditioned to be the subjects who define the objects.

The Guardian treats the lack of entrants for Mr England as a 'mystery' while Miss England attracts thousands. The organizers even resorted to having Miss England contestants 'recruit' men on beaches or nominate boyfriends. This isn't a 'shortage'; it's a raw manifestation of the struggle over the pricing power of objectification.

Under the logic of meta violence, the masculine-centric narrative grants men innate 'subjectivity.' They are conditioned to be the gazers, the definers, and the pricers. When a contest asks men to strip down and become 'hunks' to be rated and picked, it demands they surrender their subjectivity and adopt the role of the 'object'—a role women are structurally forced to perform. For most men, this loss of agency is far costlier than any perceived 'opportunity for fame.' They refuse to participate because they instinctively reject being 'consumed' the way women are.

The most telling detail is that the Mr England registration is buried within the Miss England app, marked by a tiara logo. At a structural layer, this explicitly frames the men's competition as a mere adjunct to the women's event. This is a weaponized expression: an attempt to fold male physical aesthetics into a framework dominated by the gaze that defines women.

The thousands of women entering Miss England aren't doing so out of a greater love for beauty, but because, through long-term cultural conditioning, performing as the 'chosen object' has become a fake optimal expression for survival in the existential war. When men are handed the same script, their bodies react with instinctive rejection. This proves that objectification is never about aesthetics; it is about power hierarchy. When the dominant subject is asked to experience the condition of the object, their only response is: 'I'm not interested.'
