减肥药的脱发:一场关于“美”的代价博弈GLP-1 Hair Loss: A Game of Aesthetic Costs

当医疗资源被转化为审美工具,副作用就成了女性主体性的新枷锁。
When medical resources become aesthetic tools, side effects become new shackles for female subjectivity.

The surge of GLP-1 drugs is essentially an existential war over bodily expression. What is being pursued is not metabolic health, but a lean phenotype defined as the 'optimal expression' by capital and cultural violence. When 90% of hair loss cases occur in women, this shifts from a medical side effect to a classic structural violence: women are forced into a brutal game between a 'socially approved body shape' and 'socially approved hair volume.'

Notably, the expert in the news suggests that 'cosmetic changes' should not discourage people from pursuing metabolic health. This is a typical masculine-centric narrative, reducing women's concern for their hair to mere vanity while ignoring that in the aesthetic pricing power of patriarchy, hair volume is as much a biological wall of identity expression as body shape. For many women, losing hair means losing another territory in the aesthetic game; this loss is then masked by the grand narrative of 'health.'

The deeper scam lies in how these drugs transform obesity—originally caused by structural factors like the food industry and stress—into an individual problem solvable via consumption. Hair loss, as a stress-related condition, proves the body's panic during rapid weight shedding. We use a biological violence to trade for an aesthetic passport, while the complicity of pharmaceutical companies and aesthetic influencers defines this cost as an 'acceptable side effect.'

Ultimately, driven by drugs, women move from one defined body to another. If the gap between Potential and Actual is narrowed by sacrificing subjectivity, this 'weight loss success' is nothing more than another form of self-discipline.
