This is a classic field of complicity. UEFA has established a structural violence mechanism through “warnings” and “fines,” directly linking moral choices to economic loss. Under this pressure, the “majority vote” is not about justice, but about who can afford the cost of systemic punishment. When Jason Knight says he will “focus on the football,” he is executing a fake optimal expression: playing the role of a “professional athlete” to evade the moral responsibility of being a “human.” The price of this performance is the death of subjectivity.
The football pitch here serves as a cognitive entry point. By simplifying political conflict into a “match,” the system successfully weaponizes bloody reality into sports entertainment. The claim that the Association “respects the views of all players” is merely a cultural smokescreen deployed by management to quell internal dissent. It tricks people into believing that as long as procedural justice (voting) is followed, the outcome is just. In reality, the reward for this complicity is the preservation of seats and salaries, while the cost is turning sports into a tool for masking violence.
