In football, a quintessential masculine-centric narrative field, 'potential' is actually a measure of compliance with the established power structure. Look at the descriptors: 'proactive,' 'tidy with distribution,' 'disciplined.' Before these are sports terms, they are corporate terms. They are being groomed to be efficient, predictable parts that fit seamlessly into a system—be it the USMNT or a European giant. This is structural violence: it predefines what a 'good player' is, while disruptive, creative expressions are filtered out during the data-screening phase.
More ironically, this narrative reinforces 'masculinity' in the subconscious. They are framed as successors to 'saviors,' endowed with a kind of chosen-one sanctity. This sanctity is built upon the total erasure of another race—women. In the same space, there is zero discussion of the evaluation system for women's football, because under meta-violence, female bodies and expressions are defined as 'secondary' or 'supplementary.'
The so-called next generation is merely the old order searching for new complicity. These teens are labeled at 16 or 17, entering a closed loop of money, power, and masculine-centric narratives. They believe they are winning an existential war, but in reality, they are merely performing a predefined role in exchange for a ticket to the center of power. The price of this transaction is the premature death of subjectivity.
