In Louisiana and Texas, the mandate to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms is being packaged as an inheritance of 'historical heritage.' This is a pure scam. This so-called heritage is actually a weaponized narrative entry: when a regime uses law to force religious texts into public education, it isn't fighting for faith, but for the cognitive entry. It signals to students that only one set of interpretation is legitimate in this space, while all others are noise.
This is textbook cultural violence. By 'naturalizing' specific religious texts as the foundation of law and morality, it attempts to make the subsequent structural violence appear reasonable. For instance, when Taria Usher, an African American teacher, points out that American heritage is one of slavery and oppression, that truth is smothered by this 'sacred narrative.' The logic of meta violence is precisely this: by monopolizing the right to interpret, the oppressor defines 'civilization' and 'order,' labeling all resistance as 'disrespectful' or 'radical.'
Fortunately, we see an interesting game of existence here. Teacher Taria Usher's response—hanging the Five Pillars of Islam and Five Precepts of Buddhism alongside the Commandments—is a brilliant 'optimal expression.' She avoided the binary trap of 'religion vs atheism' and instead forced the monopolized one-way channel into a pluralistic battlefield, exposing the exclusivity of this bullying. When the Ten Commandments are no longer the sole 'oracle,' they revert from a tool of power to a mere piece of paper.
But don't be naive. This resistance is currently limited to individual博弈. The real battlefield is the Supreme Court, the pinnacle of power dominated by masculine-centric narratives. If the Court again uses the sophistry of 'historical context' to endorse this mandate, it won't just be about posters; it will be the state machine systematically demolishing the biological wall between church and state, turning public education into a grooming ground for Christian nationalism.
