The police's ambiguity regarding motives, oscillating between 'Islamist extremism' and 'state links,' highlights the battle for the cognitive entry point: in counter-terrorism, the power to define 'who is a terrorist' is the power to legitimize subsequent violence as 'defense' or 'oppression.'
The most chilling complicity lies in the loop of 'intercept-panic-surveil-attack.' Safety is fetishized as a commodity purchasable through increased surveillance and restricted liberties. The Jewish community, urged to remain 'calm and alert,' is not experiencing true safety, but a survival strategy under meta violence: they must accept their status as marked, vulnerable objects to secure temporary protection from the system.
This intervention reduced the gap between Potential and Actual in the direct layer, but it is a mere patch. As long as the cultural layer continues the dehumanization of specific groups and the structural layer maintains geopolitical hatred, the next 'imminent' attack is inevitable.
