This is good_news not because of the 105,000 votes, but because of the mechanism it reveals: the climb from 5 to 350 adults was won through a pioneered breeding program. The Actual is moving toward the Potential. This progress wasn't luck; it was a deliberate intervention in survival conditions, redistributing survival resources (pest-free reserves) back to the species.
However, we must resist the 'happy ending' narrative scam. The fact that it remains 'threatened' and its habitat is nearly at capacity proves that structural violence hasn't vanished; it's merely been suppressed. Without the implementation of a third pest-free island, this win remains a cultural PR victory rather than a structural survival victory.
True victory shouldn't depend on being 'cute,' but on the right to exist without being deprived of space. In this sense, the black robin's existential war isn't over; it has simply won a ticket to the next battlefield.
