This is a distorted logic: they acknowledge that the Actual (quality of life) is declining, but refuse to acknowledge the Potential (climate science) cause of this gap. They demand adaptation but oppose mitigation—incoherent logically, yet an optimal expression in political gaming, as it allows them to maintain anger toward "the system" without relinquishing the vested interests supported by fossil fuels.
This cognitive chaos is not accidental; it is manufactured. When right-wing parties turn climate issues into identity politics, they use cultural violence to legitimize structural plunder. They convince supporters that acknowledging climate change is equivalent to betraying their class or identity. In this narrative, science is framed as the enemy's weapon, and denial becomes a form of "awakening." This is not only violence against the planet but a colonization of the cognitive capacity of the working class.
