用锁链给暴力做PR,还是在结构性屠杀中寻求共识?PR for Violence: Seeking Consensus within a Structural Slaughter

Using 'gun locks' to mask the meta-violence of gun rights is a performative concession.

This piece attempts to dissolve American gun violence through a sentimental, community-based narrative. Meredith Dean plays the perfect 'intermediary': she owns guns, understands rural culture, and is a Democrat. In game theory, this is a facade of 'optimal expression'—playing a role recognized by the other side to gain entry into the conservative cognitive entry point.

However, we must apply Galtung's Violence Triangle. The presence of firearms in American homes is itself structural violence. When guns are framed as a 'fact of life,' this narrative has completed the weaponization of the cultural layer: it legitimizes a constant death threat as a 'lifestyle.' Distributing gun locks might reduce some accidents at the direct layer, but it achieves nothing at the structural layer. It fails to challenge the meta-violence of 'why a household needs six guns' and instead attempts to patch leaks while accepting the logic.

Most dangerous is the logic of complicity. Dean calls for progressives to earn trust by cleaning rivers and handing out diapers, seeking a 'non-predatory consensus' in local pockets. Yet, this consensus is built on a concession to the gun-rights narrative. By framing the issue as 'how to live with the Second Amendment,' she is complicit in maintaining the masculine-centric narrative constructed by gun manufacturers and political elites—the idea that 'force equals freedom.'

This 'good news' is a scam. It uses a minor reduction in the gap between Potential and Actual at a local level to mask the stasis of the overall structure. If this 'consensus' means we stop debating the fundamental issue of gun control and only discuss how to lock the doors tighter, it is not a victory. It is a sophisticated version of cultural violence: convincing us that as long as we are friendly, we can find tenderness in the gaps between massacres.
