One-Minute Justice and the Power Elite's Get-Out-of-Jail-Free Card
This so-called ‘scam’ case exposes a sinister reality: the existence of ‘conveyor-belt justice’ within the UK's lower courts—a form of structural violence. When magistrates decide hundreds of cases a day, spending less than a minute on each, law ceases to be about truth and becomes a mechanism of administrative clearance. For the marginalized without resources to fight back, this one-minute verdict is final and irreversible.
Ironically, when this conveyor belt accidentally snagged London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the machine suddenly learned how to brake. The Mayor was initially convicted in absentia, proving the system's indiscriminate lethality toward ordinary citizens. Yet, once the matter became ‘widely publicised’, the DVLA swiftly requested a withdrawal, and the court erased the conviction in another one-minute hearing. One minute to strip rights, one minute to restore them—the difference is purely political.
This is a classic display of complicity. The judicial system maintains its operation through the ‘efficient’ processing of the powerless, and its dignity through ‘flexible’ corrections for the powerful. The Mayor was the victim of a scam, but that obscures the larger scam: a legal process that acts as a cold conveyor belt for the weak and a reversible software for the elite. The ‘withdrawal’ is nothing more than an emergency patch applied when the system realizes it accidentally injured one of its own.
