School Catchments: Structural Violence Masked as Asset Pricing

Tying education to real estate is a class complicity that physically locks out social mobility.

This report attempts to frame "education premiums" as a neutral economic phenomenon, but through the lens of the Violence Triangle, it is textbook structural violence. When a child's access to a top state school depends not on their Potential, but on their parents' ability to pay a £40,000 or £350,000 premium, that gap is violence.

It is a cynical form of complicity. The middle class privatizes public education by anchoring it to real estate, ensuring their offspring hold a strategic advantage in the existential war. In this logic, Yopa's research is not a service—it is a pricing guide for plunder, transforming a basic human right into a financial derivative.

Most ironic is the massive premium for schools like Henrietta Barnett. The entry barrier to "state" education has been physically reduced to a postcode. This creates a closed loop: wealth buys property $ ightarrow$ children enter elite schools $ ightarrow$ property value rises $ ightarrow$ the poor are systematically excluded from the cognitive entry points. This isn't about "family choice"; it's about the monopoly of the right to define success.

The concept of the "state school" here is a complete scam. It maintains a narrative of "equal opportunity" at the cultural layer, while executing a brutal screening process at the structural layer via the housing market. This is the logic of the Primal Race: only those with specific, pre-existing resources are granted the possibility of being defined as "talented."
