The pivot by the Log Cabin Republicans is a textbook case of existential war. In their calculation, supporting trans rights is no longer a Just Expression, but a 'liability' blocking their access to power. By labeling trans advocates as 'radical,' they attempt to frame themselves as the 'rational' and 'moderate' alternative.
This is pure complicity. To gain acceptance within the MAGA movement—a peak example of masculine-centric narrative—these conservative gay men feel the need to offer a blood oath. This oath consists of attacking trans rights to prove they have internalized the patriarchal order and are willing to police the Biological Wall.
There is a bitter irony in their attempt to save same-sex marriage by sacrificing trans people. This is a fake optimal expression: playing the role of the 'good boy' who doesn't threaten the structure to secure short-term gains. They fail to realize that once the power center masters the art of 'divide and conquer' to define who is a 'legitimate' minority, that same interpretive power will eventually be used to purge them all.
They believe they are winning a seat in the game, but they are merely agents of meta-violence. By declaring biological sex as 'incontrovertible reality,' they are handing a knife to the very machine that views all non-standard bodies as disposable objects.
