Deleting Posts to Mask the Algorithmic Complicity

Violence is not born from videos, but from the algorithmic mechanism that converts death into traffic.

After a fatal crash claiming seven lives, UK Minister Luke Pollard rushed to demand the removal of posts 'celebrating' dangerous driving. This is a classic government PR move: reducing structural violence to a case of cultural violence, attempting to solve a systemic mechanism by scrubbing surface-level 'narratives.'

Dangerous driving videos are prevalent not because a few youths suddenly became insane, but because the platform's algorithms are engaged in a precise game. The core logic is the attention economy, which captures primal human fear and stimulation to build stickiness. In this framework, wrong-way driving and death-defying stunts are converted into weaponized expression, designed to seize cognitive entry points and exchange them for financial gain. Platforms claim to prohibit dangerous behavior in words, while their code maximizes views by pushing exactly such content. This is pure complicity: platforms play the role of 'regulator' to evade legislation, while subconsciously remaining the biggest winners in this existential war.

Pollard's mention of the Online Safety Act is merely a patch at the direct layer of results. As long as the algorithm continues to define 'stimulation' as 'high-quality content,' deleting one video will only lead to countless cloned accounts replicating this aesthetics of death. When platforms quantify the human urge for destruction as a KPI, every pushed video of dangerous driving is essentially the platform investing in its financial report using other people's lives.

The true optimal expression is not deleting posts, but dismantling the algorithmic black box that monetizes death. But for the platforms, that would be a suicide of their subjectivity. Thus, they will continue to collude with the government under the lie of 'self-regulation,' until the next collision occurs.
