The Dead Under the Waste Mound and the PR of 'Planning'

Structural violence materialized as landslides; government warnings are merely post-disaster performances.

这种 Potential(本可达到的基础设施水平)与 Actual(住在垃圾堆里)之间的巨大差额,就是最赤裸的暴力。

30 people buried under a waste dump is a textbook case of structural violence. In a country boasting the world's largest bauxite reserves, the capital's residents live in tents on the edge of a collapsing landfill. The gap between the Potential of their infrastructure and the Actual reality of living in trash is the purest form of violence.

The government's narrative is particularly repulsive: claiming they announced a 'plan' to close the site a week prior. This 'warning' is a scam. If the administration knew that fatal landslides occur every rainy season, this threat wasn't 'sudden'—it was a maintained status quo. Under the logic of meta-violence, the living space of the underclass is compressed to the margins of waste, and the official 'plan' is often just a PR exercise to reframe structural negligence as 'we tried, but nature was too strong.'

The mother who lost five children saying she can only 'trust in God' shows cultural violence in action. When structural violence pushes people to the brink, religious narratives become the only psychological painkiller for the oppressed. This submission becomes a form of complicity, allowing rulers to splurge on massive mining projects in Simandou while ignoring the corpses beneath the waste of Conakry.
