Note this linguistic shift. Moving from 'invasive species' to 'resource' is a clever weaponization at the cultural layer. It is no longer about reflecting on how to repair the ecosystem, but about how to efficiently 'harvest' profit. The so-called 'quasi-military operation'—infrared drones, special forces weaponry, and an all-male hunting team—is essentially a masculine-centric game of conquest played out in nature. They don't care about the deer; they care about controlling the pricing power by controlling the rhythm of the slaughter.
The irony is that this 'good news' masks a deeper meta-violence: Hawaii imports 90% of its food, leaving its food security perilously fragile. The solution offered is to rely on a private company's mass killing to provide cheap meat.
