The 'Practicality' Scam: Stripping the Power to Think

So-called 'vocationalism' is a weapon to manufacture cheap labor and monopolize the entry points of cognition.

Reform UK's latest circus is a textbook case of the weaponisation of cultural violence. When Richard Tice and Suella Braverman attack 'Mickey Mouse' degrees and spit on 'Gender Studies,' they aren't debating educational quality; they are conducting a clearance operation of cognitive entry points.

In their narrative, history, languages, and gender studies are dismissed as 'bullshit,' while digging trenches or chasing dodgy crypto is hailed as 'practical.' The core of this logic is the deprivation of the ability to 'learn how to think' for the structurally disadvantaged. Once you learn to analyse structures, question power, and understand gender politics, you cease to be a compliant apprentice and become a threat with subjectivity. Their desire to turn Oxford into a technical college is an attempt to turn potential critics into efficient spare parts.

The complicity here is peak irony. Tice boasts of his 'merit' while erasing his family firm's legacy—a classic nepo baby move that reveals the truth: their definition of 'practicality' only applies to the bottom. For the elite, education is for building class taste and power networks; for the masses, it's mere skill-training for immediate monetization. This monopoly over the definition of education is the embodiment of meta-violence—a masculine-centric power structure deciding who gets to think and who must simply toil.

Suella Braverman's performance is a total scam of selective memory. A former cabinet minister now blaming the very government she served for 'letting students down' shows they don't care about students at all. They only care about seizing attention through hostile narratives. They aren't offering an educational alternative; they are manufacturing a weapon called 'common sense' to legitimise the purging of the intellectual class.
