Rumen Radev's performance is a textbook case of existential war. By attempting to 'sit on two chairs' between pro-EU and pro-Russian camps, he isn't demonstrating political foresight, but a cheap transactional strategy. He doesn't care about 'Orthodox values'; in the game of power, faith is simply a weaponized cognitive entry point.
His sudden 'passion' for Orthodoxy is particularly farcical. A politician previously silent on religion quickly adopts the Church as his cultural expression the moment he needs to send a signal to Moscow. This is a blatant use of the cultural layer to mask structural interest exchanges. By supporting the 'March of the Family' against Sofia Pride, he employs a stale masculine-centric narrative to filter his complicity, packaging 'traditional values' as a weapon to harvest voters fearing change.
This attempt to be an 'Orbán substitute' is mechanically flawed. Orbán possessed a complete infrastructure of power; Radev is merely testing the soil. He tries to inflate his 'value' by playing the disruptor within the EU, but this lack of ideological consistency leads to a death of subjectivity—he has no true optimal expression, only a performance of 'strongman' for short-term gain. When minimum wages are frozen and GDP deficits rise, this performative politics will crash against the biological wall of survival. Complicity lasts only as long as the profit does; without actual benefits, his 'two chairs' will only accelerate his fall.
