The Old Scam of Pitting Economy Against Climate
这种共谋的回报是政治上的短期稳固,而代价则是将 Potential(可达到的绿色可持续状态)与 Actual(日益崩塌的生态现状)之间的差额无限扩大。
The logic pushed by Reform UK—dismissing the climate crisis as a mere 'natural phenomenon' and forcing a choice between the environment and the economy—is a clumsy piece of weaponized expression. It attempts to manufacture a false dichotomy at the cognitive entry point: that environmentalism is a luxury 'moral consumption' while economic growth is the baseline for survival. By manipulating the public's fear of the cost of living, it lures them into a fake optimal expression—trading long-term survival for short-term electricity bill cuts.
Through the lens of the Violence Triangle, this narrative is textbook cultural violence. By defining 'economic growth' as the ultimate priority, it renders structural violence—such as crumbling infrastructure and obsolete energy grids—seemingly rational and inevitable. When politicians remain silent during heatwaves or offer performative concessions like VAT cuts instead of structural transitions, they are in a state of complicity, maintaining an expired industrial-era order. The reward for this complicity is short-term political stability; the cost is the widening gap between the Potential of a sustainable state and the Actual collapsing ecology.
The Allianz report exposes the core of this scam: climate breakdown is the ultimate economic drain. When temperatures above 30°C slash productivity and GDP, the phrase 'protecting the economy' becomes a farce. This is a battle over the power of interpretation. The ruling class defines 'national security' as defending against Russia rather than climate collapse to justify surging defense spending, while framing climate investment as a 'cost.'
Just expression requires admitting that economic growth is zero without a livable space. Any narrative attempting to choose between 'surviving' and 'earning more' is simply pre-paying for future large-scale direct violence.
