逃离这种共谋的唯一方式就是 divest。当你意识到你的娱乐时间正在通过资本链条转化为对他人的结构性暴力时，继续玩下去就是在为这场共谋支付订阅费。避难所的墙塌了，因为墙本身就是由那些你最厌恶的人建造的。
Many view The Sims as a sanctuary for identity expression—a digital utopia where gender, sexuality, and race can be defined at will. But the acquisition of EA by the Saudi Public Investment Fund and Jared Kushner’s cohorts exposes the structural truth: your 'freedom of expression' never belonged to you; it belongs to the owner of the servers and the IP.
This is a textbook case of the weaponisation of expression. Just as Saudi Arabia uses 'sportswashing' to mask human rights abuses in the physical world, they are now attempting 'gamewashing' to seize a cognitive entry point. When a product long branded as diverse and inclusive is bought by those who profit from bombing civilians and exploiting migrants, 'inclusivity' becomes a cynical shield. It allows perpetrators to masquerade as 'progressive patrons' in the cultural layer, diluting the stench of their meta-violence.
Even more sinister is the financial logic of this LBO. With $22 billion in debt provided by JP Morgan, the new owners are under immense pressure to recoup costs quickly. In the face of debt servicing, 'diversity updates' are expendable, replaced by predatory microtransactions and soulless generative AI. This isn't just about money; it's a total transfer of the power of interpretation. Whoever controls the rules of the digital dollhouse defines what constitutes a 'normal' life.
The only way to break this complicity is to divest. When you realize your leisure time is being converted into structural violence against others via a capital chain, continuing to play is simply paying a subscription fee to a conspiracy. The sanctuary's walls have collapsed, because the walls were built by the very people you loathe.
