This is a cynical field of complicity: while resources are plundered by global supply chains, the health system essential for survival is frozen by political maneuvering, such as the Trump administration's aid cuts. When humanitarian aid becomes a political chip, the "global health emergency" becomes a game of who is sacrificed. Healthcare workers striking over three months of unpaid wages proves that even the rescuers are merely exploited parts in this machinery.
The most insidious cultural violence is the misinformation regarding burial practices. In a traumatized society shaped by decades of unrest and outside interference, the mistrust of health workers is an extension of meta-violence. When the state only appears to plunder minerals, why would the people believe it appears with vaccines out of benevolence?
This is no longer a simple zoonotic spillover, but a structural spillover. The virus simply found the optimal transmission path in a society deliberately maintained in a low-energy, high-trauma state. Claiming that "Ebola is winning" is a scam; it is not the virus that wins, but the global power structure that profits from cutting aid and maintaining instability to secure cheap resources.
