Hollywood's 'Creative Renaissance' is a Scam for Pricing Power

Using cost reduction to mask the death of subjectivity is a classic PR version of structural violence.

Hollywood is currently packaging AI filmmaking as a 'creative renaissance,' attempting to use the narrative of 'empowering independent filmmakers' to hide a brutal fact: the increase in productivity is not expanding the space for expression, but accelerating the seizure of pricing power over human subjectivity.

The so-called '30%-50% cost reduction' in the logic of capital is never about letting more talented people make movies. It is about extracting the same profit with lower Actual investment within the same Potential space. When 'synthetic performers' replace humans, actors are no longer subjects of expression, but digital assets that can be called infinitely, require no payment, and have no biological walls. This is not empowerment; it is the total instrumentalization of human expression, degrading the actor from a 'creator' to a 'dataset'.

Most ironic is the logic of AI-native directors. They complain about Hollywood's algorithmic production while embracing a more extreme algorithm—the AI model. They believe using Chinese AI models in a bedroom grants them an 'authentic voice,' ignoring that AI is fundamentally a statistical average of all existing human expressions. When you use a model 'trained on everything under the sun,' your 'personal style' is merely a result of random sampling from a probability distribution. This isn't a Tarantino breakthrough; it's a high-efficiency complicity that erases individual expression in the subconscious.

When five tech giants define what 'good visuals' and 'believable characters' are by controlling the cognitive entry points (model weights), the meta-violence of the film industry has upgraded. This time, violence is no longer the contractual squeeze of studios, but is decided at the moment of pixel generation: which expressions are permissible. This is no golden era; it is the prelude to the mass death of subjectivity.
