Forgotten Afghanistan: The Real Ruins After Weaponized Narratives
文中那个糖尿病教师的绝望,是典型的 Violence = Potential − Actual。
This piece reads like a belated requiem. The author describes not a mere political shift, but a total collapse of structural violence. Looking back at the two decades since 2001, Western 'liberation' and 'democracy' were largely a weaponized narrative. By framing the conflict as 'liberating Middle Eastern women,' they secured moral legitimacy for war, using the female body as a cognitive entry point. Yet, the moment strategic interests vanished, this narrative was discarded.
The desperation of the diabetic headteacher is a textbook case of Violence = Potential − Actual. Her Potential was that of an educator and feminist; her Actual is a prisoner under the Taliban. This gap is the purest form of violence. More cruelly, this violence is reinforced at the cultural layer: the Taliban have monopolized the interpretation of scripture, transforming fundamentalism into state coercion and defining women as appendages to men. The closed-door meetings in Brussels represent another form of complicity—acknowledging realpolitik while tacitly accepting gender apartheid.
The most harrowing part is not the war, but the 'parallel universe' of speechlessness. When expression ceases to confirm existence and instead becomes a taboo or a burden, subjectivity dies in that silence. The author seeks to resist by 'keeping stories alive,' but this feels fragile against the weight of meta violence. As long as the global power structure continues to treat women as tradable resources, any individual resilience is merely patching shards upon a ruin.
