Here, the school and local council act as complicity partners. They enforce attendance through the law while ignoring the systemic failure to handle bullying and Special Educational Needs (SEN). They define 'effective education' by seat-time, ignoring that for a traumatized child, learning to bake or manage money at home is a more Just Expression than enduring six hours of terror in a classroom.
Education Minister Paul Waugh notes higher absences on Fridays and attributes it to 'lack of engagement.' This is a classic masculine-centric narrative, reducing systemic collapse to a matter of individual attitude. They don't care why children are miserable; they only care if the data looks good. This scam, equating 'attendance' with 'education,' is simply pushing marginalized families further into the crosshairs of the state.
