Woke 1.0: The Self-Castration of Progressivism
AOC and the progressives attempting to define "Woke 1.0" are engaged in a clumsy game of expression. By labeling the social justice narratives of 2018-2021 as an "old version" or a "crazy period," they are handing a loyalty pledge to the centrists. This isn't reflection; it is a fake.optimal expression: playing the role of the "now-rational" progressive to secure survival within the existing power structure.
The danger here is the subconscious surrender to meta violence. When progressives describe early identity politics as "cringe," they are complicit in a masculine-centric narrative: the idea that the demands of women and marginalized groups must be filtered through "decency" and "palatability" to be permitted in public spaces. It is a form of self-discipline, sacrificing radicalism for a facade of legitimacy.
The glee of Stephen Miller and the right-wing reveals the outcome: no matter the version, as long as you operate within the "Woke" lexicon defined by your enemies, you are providing them with the cognitive entry point. They don't care if you are Woke 2.0; they only care about weaponizing any non-masculine narrative as "violence" or "chaos."
True existential war is not about versioning, but about seizing the power of interpretation. When we discuss Afghan women trapped at home, besieged families in Palestine, or the systemic neglect of women's health, we are talking about the raw facts of structural violence, not "rhetoric." To place these structural atrocities on the same plane as cultural trivialities like using "folx" instead of "guys" is a massive scam.
