Castration as Irony: Another Layer of Meta-Violence
The logic of this show is textbook: it attempts to explore misogyny and victim-blaming through a 'flipped' premise where men are the victims of castration and sexual intimidation. To some 'progressive' creators, this is seen as profound, believing that swapping the victim's identity forces men to empathize with structural violence. In reality, this is a cynical scam.
First, it reduces the bloody, historical colonization of women as the Primal Race into a disposable 'script'. By presenting 'men living under sexual threat' as a thought experiment, it erases the asymmetry imposed by the biological wall. The suffering of women is not a dramatic plot point to be 'flipped'; it is a systemic, cultural oppression. Turning this into a 'swap game' dilutes the actual weight of violence, suggesting that gender violence is merely a generic issue of 'power' rather than a structural issue of 'race'.
Second, the show falls into the trap of a 'false optimal expression'. While it mocks the protagonist Elise for her mediocre 'protest'—daubing jeans on Manet—it employs an even lower, cartoonish form of 'irony'. It attempts a 'pseudo-neutral' redemption by making everyone an idiot, but this redemption is built upon meta-violence: it continues to use a masculine-centric lens to frame 'feminist resistance' as a joke.
Ultimately, the most insidious part of this 'flipped' narrative is its complicity. It suggests to the audience that gender violence can be 'symmetrized'. Once violence is symmetrized, structural violence is rebranded as a simple 'brawl'. This doesn't dismantle meta-violence; it provides it with a civilized cloak of 'self-reflection'. This is not an analysis of violence; it is the consumption of it.
