This is a textbook case of cultural violence. By 'othering' a traditional ally as a hostile religious regime, he attempts to erase the moral standing of the current UK government regarding Gaza. Once the opponent is defined as an 'Islamic republic,' their criticisms are no longer Just Expressions based on human rights, but products of 'religious infiltration.' This allows Netanyahu to pivot a diplomatic failure into a narrative of 'civilizational clash,' securing an existential win among his far-right complicity network.
What's most repulsive is the synergy of this narrative: from Trump to JD Vance and now Netanyahu, they share the same arsenal. By targeting individuals like Sadiq Khan, they weaponise the biological wall (race and religion) into political targets. The essence of this is the seizure of the power to manufacture 'what is fact': if I can define you as an Islamist state, I gain the legitimacy to sanction you structurally or shame you culturally.
Diplomatic failure rebranded as a culture war is exactly how meta-violence operates. Netanyahu uses self-destructive expression to mask his structural isolation. He is trying to drag the world into an existential war of identities because, in the game of actual facts, he has already lost.
