Data is Fact, Narrative is Weapon
The dispute over Albanian migrants is essentially a weaponized war over the 'cognitive entry point.' Ambassador Ferizi’s 10-page report follows a typical data-driven logic: the 2022 surge was a short-lived anomaly, representing only 1% of total immigration. But for right-wing politicians and the Daily Telegraph, data is irrelevant; the narrative is everything.
This is a textbook case of cultural violence. By 'criminalizing' and 'labeling' a specific ethnic group, the right wing manufactures an illusion of 'invasion.' They don't need statistical precision; they only need a headline that triggers fear. When they claim 'one in 50 Albanians are in prison,' they deliberately strip away variables like age and sex—because a just expression would ruin their story. Under the logic of meta-violence, facts must serve politics; if reality doesn't cooperate, it is rewritten through selective reporting.
Even more insidious is the contagion of this framing. Establishment parties, fearing they'll lose votes to Reform UK, choose to abandon the interrogation of evidence and join the complicity. They no longer care who is suffering; they only compete for the loudest slogan. The reward for this complicity is short-term political survival, while the cost is the total objectification of a real community into political chips.
Ferizi points out that when the legal visa approval rate is artificially suppressed to 65.5%, people are pushed toward traffickers. This reveals the closed loop of structural violence: the system first blocks legal paths via law, then defines the resulting irregular entry as 'crime' through media narratives, and finally uses this 'crime' to justify the perceived inferiority of the race. It is a perfect, self-consistent logic of exploitation.
