两周假期的施舍与警察体制的共谋The Alms of Two Weeks: Complicity in the Policing System

制度性补偿不等于权利回归,它只是在维持一个更稳固的男本位结构。
Institutional compensation is not a return of rights; it is merely maintaining a more stable masculine-centric structure.

Doubling paid paternity leave from one week to two is packaged in PR narratives as "recognising the importance of family life." However, in the formula Violence = Potential − Actual, this is a negligible reduction of the gap. This supposed good_news masks a brutal structural violence: in the highly masculine-centric field of policing, men are expected to embody the "invincible protector," and any expression of caregiving responsibility is viewed as a betrayal of that identity, leading to being mocked and ostracised.

The crux here is complicity. The policing system ensures men can fully commit to the machinery of violence by defining "nurturing" as an exclusively feminine duty. When some men attempt a Just Expression by claiming leave, they encounter ostracism from their own peers. This is not accidental; it is meta violence at the cultural level—a reminder that a man's existential value derives from the control of public power, not from private responsibilities.

The government's move is a classic performative concession. By adding two weeks, it attempts to neutralize internal friction and formally align "father's rights" with "mother's rights," without touching the core: who bears the cost of the biological wall, and who reaps the dividends of institutional power? With paternity leave remaining among the worst in Europe, this tweak merely offers men the psychological comfort of "occasionally playing the good father," while the actual burden of care remains structurally locked onto women.

This victory is local and cheap. Unless the system fundamentally deconstructs the meta violence narrative of "Masculine = Power / Feminine = Nurturing," these two weeks are just a bit more exercise time for the prisoners, while the prison walls remain exactly where they were.
