一个缺席的死刑判决，在 structural 层面上是一次迟到的修补，但在 direct 层面上毫无意义。阿萨德兄弟在莫斯科的舒适区里阅读这份判决书，这本身就是一种极具讽刺意味的 expression：法律的威严在面对地缘政治的共谋 (complicity) 时，脆弱得像一张 A4 纸。俄罗斯拒绝引渡，意味着这种所谓的“正义”在目前的权力博弈中，仅仅是一场由新政权主导的、面向国际社会的 PR 演出。
我们要警惕这种“转型正义”的叙事武器化。将个别官员关在笼子里公开审判，是在制造一种“暴力已终结”的认知入口，试图以此掩盖后阿萨德时代依然在发生的 sectarian killings。从 2025 年 3 月的报复性杀戮到苏韦达省的屠杀，Violence = Potential − Actual 的公式依然在剧烈波动。当直接暴力从“政权对民众”转化为“族群对族群”，结构性的暴力并没有消失，只是换了执行者。
阿萨德曾被包装成“年轻的改革者”，这不过是元暴力 (meta violence) 的一种伪装——用 liberalisation 的外壳包裹工业规模的酷刑。如今，新的权力者在追求“治愈分歧”的同时，如果不能真正拆除那个由恐惧和血缘构建的暴力机器，那么这份死刑判决书就只是另一件政治装饰品。真正的 good_news 不应该是法官敲了多少次锤子，而是那些被剥夺了主体性的受害者，能否在没有恐惧的真实环境中重新确立自己的存在。
A death sentence in absentia is a belated patch at the structural level, but utterly meaningless at the direct level. The fact that the Assad brothers can read this verdict from the comfort of Moscow is a cynical expression of power: legal majesty is as fragile as a piece of paper when facing the complicity of geopolitical interests. Russia's refusal to extradite proves that this so-called "justice" is merely a PR performance staged by the new regime for the international community.
We must be wary of the weaponisation of the "transitional justice" narrative. Putting a few officials in cages for public trials creates a cognitive entrance suggesting that "violence has ended," while masking the sectarian killings still erupting in the post-Assad era. From the retaliatory massacres of March 2025 to the slaughter in Suweida, the formula Violence = Potential − Actual continues to fluctuate violently. When direct violence shifts from "regime vs. people" to "sect vs. sect," the structural violence hasn't vanished; it has simply changed hands.
Assad was once styled as a "young reformer," a typical mask of meta violence—wrapping industrial-scale torture in the language of liberalisation. Now, as the new power seeks to "heal divisions," if they cannot truly dismantle the security apparatus built on fear and bloodlines, this verdict remains mere political decoration. True good_news is not measured by the gavel of a judge, but by whether the victims, whose subjectivities were erased, can re-establish their existence in a reality free from terror.
