People in the North are told to 'strive,' while facing a pipeline designed to flow resources exclusively southward.
The irony is peak meta-violence: the A1 in the North is scrapped as 'poor value for money' while real lives are lost in accidents, yet London's expansion is treated as a 'strategic asset.' In this system, London's growth is a priority, and Northern lives are mere overhead. This disparity in pricing power is determined by a system driven by market complicity and a total lack of national planning.
Burnham's devolution strategy sounds like a good_news, but if it merely decentralizes the 'management of poverty' without changing the logic of resource allocation, it's just a PR version of structural violence. True balance isn't about granting local titles; it's about dismantling the super-pump that drains the nation.
