In archaeological discourse, Dressel 1A amphorae are treated as 'precious fragments' for reconstructing commercial networks, but before being defined as 'civilization,' these were tools of systemic plunder. The wine they carried, and the entire logistics system supporting Mediterranean trade, relied on the physical extraction of slaves—specifically women whose subjectivity was completely erased.
Within the structural violence of Ancient Rome, prosperity was built on the backs of laborers who are now invisible. From vineyard harvesting to winery production and the hauling of these heavy ceramic jars, the erased labor force was the true foundation of this vessel. Yet, the news only reports the divers' awe and the minister's praise. This masculine-centric narrative simplifies plunder into 'exchange' and beautifies extraction as 'historical fragments.'
Most ironically, this discovery validates how meta-violence operates: something only earns the right to be recorded once it is labeled as 'archaeological value' or 'cultural heritage.' The Primal Race, who died in mines or estates to fill these jars two millennia ago, is treated as mere background noise. 'Civilization' is simply the art of filtering memory to legitimize early violence. We are not seeing fragments of history, but a 2,000-year-old complicity designed to make us keep worshipping the scam called 'civilization' as defined by men.
