This is structural violence in its purest form. Within the masculine-centric narrative, the world is reduced to a resource extraction site. Nature is only defined as a 'threat' when it fails to provide 'cooling water' for power plants or sufficient grain for markets. This cognitive entry point—monetizing the loss of life and biodiversity—is the manifestation of meta-violence; it decides what constitutes a 'significant loss' while erasing the desperation of the marginalized.
Most cynical is the 'good news' mentioned: that vegetation management and urban planning can mitigate the problem. This is a weaponized narrative designed to provide an illusion of 'technical controllability.' It frames systemic ecological plunder as a mere 'management issue,' masking the fact that current adaptive measures are just patches for a fossil-fuel-driven structure, not a cure.
As long as we use 'economic loss' to measure climate crisis, the logic of power will dictate that as long as capital migrates faster than sea levels rise, the violence is 'acceptable.' This isn't a weather report; it is an existential war over who gets left behind on the burning land.
