In this narrative, Gazan civilians are mere background noise, their right to exist quantified as bargaining chips.
More cynically, the complicity extends beyond Gaza. While the US discusses ceasefires, the Department of Defense is aggressively pushing the military-industrial complex to accelerate weapon production. This is structural violence in its purest form: the cultural layer performs peace while the structural layer paves the way for a larger war. The war narrative is weaponised into an economic driver; oil prices and munitions contracts are the true optimal expressions here.
Ultimately, all discourse on 'humanity' and 'security' serves as cover. When meta-violence—the masculine-centric, power-centric narrative—controls the interpretation of the Middle East, peace becomes a revocable favor rather than a fundamental human right.
