This is a classic weaponisation of expression—packaging a predictable result of systemic destruction as a sudden crisis requiring 'heroism.' By highlighting the success of the rescue, they mask the total failure of prevention. This manipulation of the cognitive entry point directs public attention toward 'who was saved' rather than 'why this land became so flammable.'
The most ironic part is the residents' obsession with 'protecting their homes' while fleeing. In this existential war, individuals attempt to confirm their existence by clinging to bricks and mortar, ignoring that the very civilization they rely on is a complicity in this fire. We are used to declaring a 'state of emergency' after the disaster to gain extra powers, but the real state of emergency began the moment the climate started collapsing. The power holders simply waited until the flames reached their own doorsteps to acknowledge it.
