Belfast Ablaze: When Loyalism Needs a New Prey

Violence requires no reason, only a weaponized narrative entry point.

This is not a racial conflict; it is a low-end game of existential survival. The so-called Loyalists, having lost their traditional enemy in the IRA, are suffering a profound identity crisis. When the old friend-enemy distinction failed, they had to manufacture a new 'Other' to justify their existence. Skin color became the most convenient cognitive entry point.

A random act of violence was swiftly weaponized, amplified by social media algorithms into a narrative of 'cultural invasion.' The logic is primitive: by defining the victim as an 'alien culture,' direct violence is disguised as a 'just expression' of community defense. Under this narrative, torching a Romanian family's home is no longer a crime, but a ritual of 'defending the homeland.'

Most sickening is the structural layer: the complicity of paramilitaries. They exploit the debts and fears of teenagers, turning them into cheap tools of violence. Meanwhile, the absence of police and the government's reliance on the obsolete term 'race relations' provide a shield for meta-violence. When the center of power attempts to mask structural predation with 'relationship improvement,' they become co-conspirators in this pogrom.

This fire burned more than houses; it scorched a hypocritical mask of civilization. The injunction to turn off phones and dashcams marks the evolution from 'spontaneous protest' to 'organized cleansing.' This evolution proves that as long as the power of interpretation is monopolized, any bloody slaughter can be packaged as a 'necessary stance.'
