枪击案不是“警钟”,是元暴力的必然产物School Shootings are not 'Wake-up Calls', but Products of Meta-Violence
A 14-year-old boy kills his grandparents with his grandfather's gun, then proceeds to a school to slaughter teachers and students. This extreme direct violence is often reduced to 'mental health issues' or 'loopholes in gun control.' But through the lens of the Violence Triangle, the gun is merely the trigger; the real killer is the meta-violence lurking in the cultural layer.
In the masculine-centric narrative, power is equated with dominance, and anger is packaged as a 'manly' trait, while failure is seen as an intolerable castration. When a adolescent boy, pushed toward aggression by biological walls and hormones, finds no just expressions in a structurally oppressive environment, his only 'optimal expression' becomes the confirmation of existence through the destruction of others. This logic of seizing the right of interpretation through violence is a microcosm of meta-violence.
Most ironic is the opposition leader's comment calling this a 'wake-up call.' This is typical complicity—attempting to transform a massacre into a discussion on 'systemic improvement' to avoid examining the cultural roots. They discuss security and gun legislation, yet remain silent on the culture of masculinity that makes a 14-year-old believe 'killing is the only way out.' As long as meta-violence defines what it means to be 'strong,' and as long as the urge to dominate is accepted as a masculine instinct, no amount of security upgrades will stop violence from erupting in the next classroom.
