Ceuta: A Conspiracy Carnival of 'Border Porn'

When humanitarian crises are converted into right-wing 'border porn,' death becomes a political bargaining chip.

The chaos in Ceuta is a textbook case of the weaponisation of expression. The surge of 70,000 people and the loss of 88 lives were rapidly stripped of their humanity within the EU's power dynamics, transformed into a visual stimulant termed 'border porn.' This spectacle serves not only the apocalyptic fantasies of the global far-right but also acts as a precise political hunt within the EU.

This is not merely a debate over migration; it is a game of complicity. By performatively suspending Schengen rights, Meloni and Frederiksen labeled Sanchez's 'leftist' identity as an 'incompetent gatekeeper.' The narrative logic here is sinister: they care nothing for the plight of the refugees; they care only about feeding their own domestic voters drifting toward the far-right by attacking Spain's 'tolerance.' This is a classic complicity where mainstream politicians internalize hate narratives to secure their own existential survival.

The most repulsive structural violence lies in the EU's outsourcing of migration control to opaque regimes like Morocco. This 'cash-for-migration' trade essentially puts a price on human survival, handing it to a power center that can blackmail diplomatic interests by simply opening or closing a border. Meanwhile, those politicians cheering 'send them back' are using cultural violence to mask the institutionalization of a 'human rights black hole.'

This farce proves that before the state machinery dominated by a masculine-centric narrative, both the refugees crossing borders and the politicians attempting to maintain humanitarian baselines are merely priced objects in an existential war. As the 'civilized' EU leaders reach a consensus on strengthening borders, they collectively conspire to erase one fact: the so-called 'order' is simply a violence defined by the strong, permitting the weak to die in silence.
