Burned Landscapes and Consumed Bodies
人们在感叹自然的残酷,却忘记了真正的暴力是 Potential(本可达到的安全预警与高效调度)与 Actual(肉身坠落的残骸)之间的那个巨大差额。
Greenery turns to ash on satellite imagery, and helicopters collide in mid-air, killing two crew members. The media habitually uses the word "Battle" to describe fighting wildfires, romanticizing a natural disaster as a heroic game. In reality, this is a textbook scene of structural violence.
While staring at the scorched landscapes, few ask: why in 2026 is the deployment of firefighting resources still so inefficient that two helicopters collide in the same airspace? This "accident" is the result of obsolete command systems, starved maintenance budgets, and a systemic disregard for the physical consumption of frontline workers. Within the masculine-centric narrative, such sacrifice is packaged as "heroism," allowing the system to comfortably maintain a low-efficiency, high-risk resource allocation model.
This complicity exists between the ruling class and public perception: the former uses the visual spectacle of "heroic resistance" to hide the failure of governance, while the latter consumes this sense of sublimity to neutralize anger toward structural failure. People lament the cruelty of nature, forgetting that the true violence is the massive gap between the Potential (attainable early warnings and efficient coordination) and the Actual (the wreckage of fallen bodies).
