Transnational Violence Exported as 'Family Values'
The surge of anti-LGBTQ+ laws across West Africa is not a 'local cultural awakening,' but a textbook case of the weaponization of expression. When military juntas need to manufacture enemies to maintain power and religious groups seek to monopolize the interpretation of 'family values,' LGBTQ+ communities become the cheapest scapegoats.
The most cynical complicity here is that while these regimes preach anti-Western rhetoric and 'sovereignty,' they are actively importing funding and legislative templates from conservative Christian groups in the US. This 'transnational reinforcement' proves that any narrative designed to consolidate power by stripping others of their subjectivity follows the same logic—this is the global distribution of meta-violence.
Structurally, these laws reinforce the biological wall by forcibly defining gender as a binary. Once an individual's expression is criminalized, they are stripped of all voting power in the existential war. The detention and beating of transgender women are simply the direct violence resulting from this structural violence.
'Family sovereignty' is a massive scam. By defining what a 'normal family' is, it labels everyone else as 'deviant,' allowing power-holders to exercise primal, racialized oppression under the cover of 'protecting civilization.' In this narrative, human rights are fragmented and discarded in the trash bin of 'tradition.'
