Once nature is defined as a service, it enters the pricing power of capital. This means we care about ecological collapse not because we are losing our habitat, but because bank credit risks are rising and GDP might fluctuate. This is a textbook case of weaponized expression: replacing 'life ethics' with 'core economics' and 'price stability' with 'mass extinction.'
This translation mechanism ensures that the power structure remains intact even in the face of catastrophe. It suggests that the optimal expression for solving the climate crisis is not to dismantle predatory growth, but to hedge risks through more precise 'monitoring' and 'credit loss dynamics.' It is merely the complicity of elites attempting to patch a ruin created by financial logic using financial tools.
The irony is that this narrative convinces us that we are safe as long as banks can quantify the cost of collapse. In reality, once nature is quantified as a service, it becomes a tradable, sacrificeable commodity. This logic of converting biological instinct into financial metrics is the ultimate form of meta-violence: it strips nature of its right to exist and strips us of our authentic perception of the crisis by defining only what is 'relevant.'
