In the meta-violence of masculine-centric narratives, efficiency always trumps subjectivity. The caged hen is objectified as a mere 'egg-producing machine,' while organic farming becomes a climate villain due to its 'inefficiency.' This mirrors the logic of requiring women to perform a specific, 'efficient' role in the workplace to earn their survival—if you cannot produce like a machine, you are a burden to the system.
Most ironic is the researchers' admission of using data from 2009-2010 to define 'sustainability' in 2026. This monopoly over the right of interpretation transforms an ethical issue of biological torture into a math problem about tCO2e. This is the essence of cultural violence: making direct violence (confinement and torture) look like a rational choice necessary to 'save the planet.'
The so-called 'trade-off' is merely providing psychological comfort to the complicity.
